Victory Academy at Country Day School Indian Rocks Beach
Can you imagine a school where students with learning differences can progress at their own pace, and where their unique strengths are celebrated as often as their challenges are acknowledged?
The Victory Academy is a specialized K-8th grade program located at Country Day School Indian Rocks Beach campus. Established with the intention of serving a broader range of abilities, Victory’s faculty and staff are attuned to neurodiverse students’ unique styles of communicating, thinking and learning. Our team approaches each school day with an assets-based perspective: in what areas can this student succeed today? Where might he or she need support to be successful?
Low/student teacher ratios allow for more frequent and individualized academic guidance. The Victory team takes students’ special interests seriously, and those interests are often incorporated into subject lessons to help connect their inner-experience with necessary academic and social skills. Teachers guide students into the next academic challenge, focusing on process over product. Our Victory team doesn’t “teach to the test,” test too early, or too often. They model flexibility, creativity and respectful interactions for and with students.
Victory students are encouraged to experience school as a fun, loving (and fun-loving!) community. Students learn in beautifully prepared environments only walking distance from the beach. Classrooms include a Montessori room, several teacher-led/group-work rooms, and a makerspace. Our curriculum includes all core academic areas, as well as practical life skills, physical education, art, music, mindfulness, and social-emotional skills. Older students move into abstract thinking, multi-tasking, and are provided more integration opportunities with neurotypical peers. Occupational and speech therapy are available on-site.
At Victory, it is our mission to nurture individual strengths and support areas of need to transform student potentials into highest possible personal and academic achievements.
